Membership in the TXSDPA lasts one calendar year and renewals take place on each member's anniversary date of joining.  The following classifications of membership are available.  Please select the appropriate category to submit your application to join. Membership Categories

Fellow Members:

Fellow (Clinical) members shall be physician associates who are graduates of a physician associates program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission (ARC-PA), or by on its predecessor agencies, or who has passed the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE) administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or an examination administered by another agency approved by the AAPA House of Delegates.  To maintain their fellow membership status, members must practice dermatology full or part time in collaboration with a physician, board certified/board eligible in dermatology.

Fellow (Professional) members shall be physician associates who are graduates of a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission (ARC-PA), or by on its predecessor agencies, or who has passed the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE) administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or an examination administered by another agency approved by the AAPA House of Delegates.  Fellow (Professional) members must work in a dermatology professional capacity in the best interest of Texas Dermatology PAs.

Fellow members may vote for TXSDPA officers and directors, introduce and vote on TXSDPA business and shall be eligible to hold office in the TXSDPA.

Associate Members:  Associate members shall be physician associates who are a graduate of a physician associate program accredited by the ARC-PA, or one of its predecessor agencies or who has passed the PANCE administered by the NCCPA, or an examination administered by another agency approved by the AAPA House of Delegates. Associate members status is conferred to those physician associates who practice in dermatology, but whose supervising physician is not a board certified/board eligible dermatologist. Nurse Practitioners, licensed by the state of Texas, and who work with board certified/board eligible dermatologists in the state of Texas are also eligible to become Associate members. Associate member status may also be conferred for former Fellow members who are now retired from clinical practice of any kind so long as they continue to hold an active license as a Physician Associate. Associate members shall have the privilege of the floor to address the TXSDPA Board of Directors, but shall not be entitled to vote or hold office.

Physician Members: Physician members shall consist of licensed physicians who desire to associate with the TXSDPA in a professional or social capacity. Physician members shall be entitled to the privileges of the floor to address the TXSDPA Board of Directors, but shall not be entitled to vote or hold office.

Affiliate Members: Affiliate members shall consist of physician associates, other health professionals, and individuals employed by government agencies or industry who do not qualify for any other membership category, who have an interest in dermatology and desire to be affiliated with the TXSDPA. Affiliate members shall not be eligible to vote or hold office in the TXSDPA.

Student Members: Student members are individuals who are enrolled in a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) or Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP), or successor agency approved physician associate program, or an unapproved program recognized by the AAPA). Student members shall not be eligible to vote or hold office in the TXSDPA.
